Strategically Lighting the Way For Sales

Michigan-based Kalamazoo Candle Company makes some of the best candles you will ever light in your home or office. While their amazing, gently scented candles could boast about a number of core features, like 100% sustainability, brand awareness was a major issue for the company.

The pandemic brought e-commerce success through 2020, but lifting covid restrictions eventually led to a decline in e-commerce sales for the brand – which brought them to Atomic Honey.

Atomic Honey knew the course wasn’t sustainable. We had to keep their e-commerce channels relevant and productive while expanding their universe.

Atomic Honey started working with Kalamazoo Candle Company in mid-2021 with the main objective of increasing e-commerce traffic and sales while driving new customers both in-store and online.

We aimed to boost Kalamazoo Candle Company’s awareness through paid search, SEO enhancements (such as blogs) and emails. 

Each tactic spoke to a specific audience’s needs, using on-brand messaging, and was supported by clear and engaging imagery to capture the quality and simplistic elegance of their products.

Longer-Burning Results

In under two months, Atomic Honey was able to boost brand awareness and increase e-commerce sales while driving significantly more traffic to the website. Website traffic increased 61% over the last 5 months of 2021.

Through our paid search and email campaigns, Atomic Honey met/exceeded Kalamazoo Candle Company’s e-commerce goals by holding a 3:1 ROAS (Google Industry average being 2:1) and increasing online revenue by 103%. Not to mention, POS in-store revenue increased by 65%. 

There was an additional ask of layering in a paid search tactic to focus on bulk custom candle orders which returned a 189% increase in revenue during the 2021 holiday season.

The increase in brand awareness and e-commerce sales was just what we needed to successfully wrap up 2021 and set the brand’s 2022 goals.
